Combinato has grown out of several key interactions and ideas. It is the reflection of my teachers through my personal history. The choice of this name, Combinato, as a style of Kun Tao Silat is in honor of my teachers, past, present, and future. Particularly, Earl Alston and Willem de Thouars — Randall Goodwin

Guru Randall Goodwin started training martial arts in 1964 with the study of Judo in Hawaii under "Rubberman" Higami. In 1972 He started Kenpo, subsequently cross training in Shotokan (Yutaka Yaguchi), Tae Kwon Do (Russell Peron, Song Ki Padula) and Okinawate (Earl Alston), Shaolin, Tai Chi, Hsing I and Pa Kua —Willem de Thouars, Kumar Frantzis and others, He received his Nidan (2nd Black Belt) in Okinawa Te from Earl Alston. He became seriously involved in Kuntao Silat de Thouars in the late 1970's. He has been practcing Kun Tao (Old Chinese Kung Fu) and several styles of Pencak Silat — indigenous Indonesian and Malasian Martial Arts — ever since.

He is a cerified Master Instructor in Kun Tao Silat from Willem de Thouars. He is certified in Serak Silat by Paul de Thouars, He is certified in Silat Kuntau Tekpi by Omar Hakim. He has been teaching at the Gelinas Academy of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) for over ten years.
